Flexcar Members Just Surpassed 350 Million Miles. Here's What That Looks Like.

This summer, Flexcar drivers surpassed a milestone that is difficult to picture at first glance: 350 million miles driven.

350 million is one of those numbers that sounds impressive, but doesn't really mean much until you put it into context. Most of us don't think in hundreds of millions of miles. We think in commutes, road trips, vacations, and weekend errands. So we decided to have some fun in illustrating an answer to this question: Just how many miles is 350 million?

More Than 730 Round Trips to the Moon

The average distance from Earth to the Moon is about 239,000 miles. That means Flexcar drivers have collectively traveled the equivalent of more than 730 round trips to the Moon. For perspective, if one person started driving toward the Moon today and somehow never stopped, they would still be driving centuries from now.

More Than 14,000 Trips Around the Earth

The Earth's circumference is approximately 24,901 miles. 350 million miles is enough to circle the planet more than 14,000 times. If you completed one lap around Earth every day, it would take more than 38 years to match the distance Flexcar members have already traveled.

It Would Take 665 Years to Drive

350 million miles is such a large number that it's hard to appreciate how long it would take a single person to cover that distance.

Imagine driving 60 miles per hour, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without ever stopping. At that pace, it would take approximately 665 years to drive 350 million miles. In fact, to reach 350 million miles by today, you would have needed to start driving in the mid-1300s. That was roughly a century before the printing press spread across Europe and more than a century before Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic.

More Than 13 Million Marathons

A marathon is 26.2 miles. At 350 million miles, Flexcar drivers have collectively covered the equivalent of 13 million marathons. That's enough marathons for every resident of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Phoenix combined to run one, and then some.

More Than a Number

Behind every mile is a story. Some of those miles came from daily commutes, while others came from airport pickups, family vacations, moves across town, college visits, weekend getaways, first dates, job interviews, and countless ordinary trips that mattered to the people making them.

As Flexcar continues expanding into new markets across the country, we're grateful to every member who helped us reach this milestone. 350 million miles is an incredible milestone. More importantly, it's 350 million miles of people getting where they needed to go.
